The symbol you see on this hoodie is the Lambda symbol. New York graphic designer Tom Doerr chose the Lambda in 1970 as the symbol of the local branch of the Gay Activists Alliance.

In December 1974, the Lambda became the official symbol of equal rights for gay men and lesbian women by the International Gay Rights Congress in Edinburgh. The human rights organizations Lambda Legal and Lambda Literary Foundation derive their logo from the Lambda.
